What is a WebSocket?
After an HTTP upgrade handshake, both sides exchange frames over the same connection. That makes WebSockets a good fit for chat, live dashboards and collaborative editing, where polling would add latency and overhead.
Browsers enforce the same-origin policy for WebSockets through the Origin header, so a server must explicitly allow your site. Use wss:// in production: ws:// traffic is unencrypted and blocked on HTTPS pages.
