Punycode / IDN Converter
An IDN (Internationalized Domain Name) lets domains use non-ASCII characters such as müller.de or café.fr. Punycode is how DNS stores them: the Unicode label becomes an ASCII string starting xn--. Convert either direction using the browser's built-in URL API.
What is Punycode?
DNS only understands ASCII, so Unicode labels are encoded into Punycode for the wire. Browsers show the Unicode form, which is why lookalike domains can be used for phishing — check the xn-- form when you need the real registered name.
Examples
münchen.de→xn--mnchen-3ya.decafé.fr→xn--caf-dma.fr例え.jp→xn--r8jz45g.jpxn--mnchen-3ya.de→münchen.de
How it works
This tool uses the browser's native URL API and URLSearchParams encoding, which implements the IDNA (Internationalized Domain Names in Applications) standard. All conversion happens locally in your browser. No data is sent anywhere.
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your inputs and files are processed locally and are never sent to or stored on Kinetikatech servers.
