Server Control Panels Compared
Free versus paid hosting panels judged on license economics, ecosystem depth, and migration reality: cPanel, Plesk, and DirectAdmin set the standard the free forks are measured against, and the per-account pricing cPanel introduced in 2019 is still the question most of these pages answer.

Field notes
Panel comparisons at Kinetikatech settle on license economics before anything else: per-account versus per-server math projected over three years, plus the renewal spikes nobody budgets and always discovers. That math decides more estates than any benchmark.
Ecosystem is the second gate: can we hire the admin, does CloudLinux certify, does the plugin marketplace actually contain the plugin, and does support answer with fixes rather than quotes. Free panels that fail this gate can still win the estate, but they fail it honestly on paper.
Migration reality is the third: cross-panel moves map accounts manually, rebuild mail by hand, and rename databases where nobody remembered them. We measure migration weekends in staging clones before defending any panel decision in production.
Security history is a fact set, not gossip: dormant release lines, breach records, and CVE cadence belong in the decision file alongside prices. A panel's commit graph tells you more about next year than its marketing page does.
We run free panels every week and paid ones too: the honest answer changes with tenant density, stack certification needs, and who debugs at 3 a.m. Neither camp is a religion, and this category exists because pretending otherwise costs clients real money.
