Field notes
Shared hosting economics live or die on defaults: out-of-the-box Apache, PHP, and MySQL settings assume a single application, not hundreds of tenants. The first profitable hour on any cPanel server is spent replacing defaults with measured values, workers sized to RAM, pools per account, buffers per workload, and writing them down as the new baseline.
Containment beats cleanup on multi-tenant servers by an order of magnitude. CageFS plus LVE limits plus per-account PHP means the 3 a.m. page is about one noisy account with a clear fault counter, not a mysterious whole-server slowdown requiring dawn forensics. Build the cages before you need them.
Migrations are where hosting reputations are made or lost. The Transfer Tool moves bytes reliably; what moves customers is everything around it, pre-flight audits, per-account verification of mail and databases, DNS choreography, warm standby, and honest communication. Nobody remembers a migration that worked; everybody remembers one that didn't.
