Field notes
Scope discipline makes or breaks testing value. Vague scopes produce vague reports; precise scopes, enumerated targets, methods, windows, emergency contacts, produce findings with reproduction steps that developers can actually fix. The pre-engagement document is 20% of the work and 80% of the usefulness.
Severity without exploitability context wastes remediation budgets. A critical CVE on an unreachable internal service matters less than a medium XSS on the checkout page. We rank by reachable impact and chain potential, not raw scores, which is why manual verification rides along with every scan.
Re-testing closes the loop that most engagements leave open. Remediation claims without verification are how 'fixed' vulnerabilities greet next year's auditors. Every finding we report gets a verification pass, and the report states plainly what was confirmed closed.
